Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), is a research-oriented university with a strong focus on science and technology and the coordinated development of engineering, science, management and humanity.

BIT was founded in 1940. There are 22 academic schools with 73 undergraduate programs, 48 master programs and 39 Ph.D programs. The total number of students is 33,000, including 15,000 undergraduate students, 11,000 master students and over 6,000 PhDs. There are over 2,600 faculty members, 23% of which are government endorsed professors, and over 40 are members of the Chinese Academy of Science or the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

BIT is the Top 10 most challenging university for admission of science and engineering programs in China. BIT students have won consecutive championships and awards in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions both domestically and internationally, with the number and quality of awards ranking the top in China.
