The Opening Ceremony of Belt and Road Student Summer Camp-Beijing Held at BIT

On the morning of July 30, 2018, the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Student Summer Camp-Beijing was held in the Building No. 7, Zhongguancun Campus, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). Mr. Fang Jun (Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Ministry of Education), Mr. Huang Kan (Deputy Director-General of Beijing Municipal Education Commission), and Mr. Gao Zhiyong (Deputy Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality) attended the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Long Teng, BIT Vice President. Director-General Huang Kan gave the welcome speech and Deputy Director-General Fang Jun announced the opening of the camp. Three student representatives from Moscow Aviation Institute, Beijing Institute of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology shared respectively their expectations for the camp and their pursuit of cutting-edge technology of vehicle area.

Themed as “New Energy and Intelligent Vehicles”, the summer camp was initiated by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, co-hosted by BIT and Beijing International Education Exchange Center. During the three-week summer program, the camp will provide participants with innovative practices of the latest technology areas including unmanned vehicles and new energy vehicles through course study and company visits. In addition, participants will also have opportunities to participate in various cultural visits and have a taste of Chinese culture.
The camp will further promote exchanges and cooperation among universities in Beijing and universities along the Belt and Road regions. There are 84 foreign teachers and students from 18 institutions including Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Belarusian National Technical University, Cyprus University of Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague, Heriot-Watt University, Imperial College London, Moscow Aviation Institute, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Samara University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Slovak University of Technology, St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Tallinn University of Technology, Technical University of Malaysia Melaka, Tel Aviv University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, University of Belgrade, and Warsaw University of Technology. 60 Chinese teachers and students are from Beijing Information Science and Technology University, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Union University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing University of Technology, North China University of Technology, and Tsinghua University.
